About
Creating stories through print
My work explores layering patterns and images using handcarved Indian woodblocks. The blocks hold a familiarity unlike other printmaking tools, I find the process of mark making through these a meditative yet dynamic practice.
Traditionally applied in the textile industry, I focus printing with these blocks beyond these uses, embracing a connection and respect to a traditional art form through contemporary compositions on both faric and handmade papers.
Designed in house, my blocks are then carved by skilled craftspeople in India, a collaboration between craft communities exploring heritage. My work is founded on a desire of sharing the beauty and accesibility of this craft. To build more connection and understanding between people & craft, highlighting the history and journey of Indian woodblock printing whilst reimagining how we print with them. I see this as a journey of exploration, discovery and appreciation of craft communities.
Born in London, the fabric of India is an intergral part of my life, be it in our travels there, the sounds, people, food, traditions and above all the craft. For the past decade my practice has focussed on printmaking, with screens and woodblocks, allowing me to explore layering patterns and images, fundamental in my work.
My Indian roots, connections and nostalgia are fused with experiences of a life in London. My work is a reflection of this complex but beautiful journey, a place where memory and identity collide. I hope my work connects the viewer to a place, moment or simply a feeling. You’ll find whimsical compositions, bright, joyful and full of positive energy.
I have facilitated blockprint workshops at venues including the V&A London, The British Museum, Somerset House, William Morris Society, Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery, Gunnersbury Museum, National Trust.
Alongside these I run private sessions for smaller groups and printing sessions for corporate events, schools and community groups to further spread the accessibility and beauty of the craft.
My work has been showcased in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2024, Pressing Matters Magazine and in local art trails.
For a recent collaboration with The British Museum, I was commissioned to design blockprinted panels for the exhibition, Ancient India - Living Traditions.
In 2024, my Solo exhibition ‘Imprinted’, at the Nehru Centre, Mayfair, explored my connection between this craft & my heritage through blockprinted stories, drawing on themes of family & childhood homes.

The Blocks
Blocks are designed in house by myself. Inspired by my world; nature, symbolism, art, architecture, cultural roots & heritage. I work with my partners in India who work closely with the carvers, supporting communities of skilled artisans.
The artisans have honed their craft over years, a skill passed down generations. I hold a huge amount of respect in their skill and ability to translate my sketches into carved works of pure joy, something that is shared and highlighted through my work. I see my work as a culmination by many hands.
The wood for the blocks is largely Sheesham, the Indian Rose Wood or a Teak Wood, both indigenous to the land.
If you’d like your own unique blocks designed and carved, please contact me, I also make bespoke printing kits, drop me an email and lets work on something beautiful.
